Sarah McKenna has been developing her unique ceramic forms at Bridge Street Studios since 1999. Before returning to Dundalk she studied Ceramics at Duncan of Jordonstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee, Scotland. Here she gained a Bachelor of Ceramic Design.
Sarah McKenna Ceramics produces a range of quirky customisable ceramics giftware. The range, which is impressed with wallpaper patterns, includes platters & dishes, lamps, candle holders and framed pieces are available in two styles. “Butterflies”, which are simple elegant cream ceramics, adorned with gilded butterflies and “Love Song”, which are bright colourful pieces with lyrics impressed onto each piece. She produces a range of handmade ceramic giftware. Her designs are contemporary with a nostalgic quality which bows to stylised botanical patterns of traditional textiles. She uses lyrics and poetry, which link each piece with memories, times or places.

In 2010 Sarah was commissioned to make awards for Louth County Enterprise Board, Louth Scout County and Buíon Setanta Scout Group. The pieces lend themselves well to presentation pieces due to the customizable aspect of the designs.
Sarah’s work has been presented to many dignitaries including Bill Clinton, President Mary McAleece, Sharon Corr, Peter Robinson MLA, Martin McGuinness MLA.
Sarah runs classes and workshops for adults and children from her studios.
Sarah is the CCoI representative for Louth Craftmark Designers Network, secretary of Bridge Street Studios and Crafts Council of Ireland’s Craft ambassador of the North East.
