Sarah McKenna has been developing her unique ceramic forms at Bridge Street Studios since 1999. She studied Ceramics at Duncan of Jordonstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee, Scotland, were she gained a Bachelor of Ceramic Design.

Sarah's work has a deep connection with the natural world, in particular the rhythmic sequence of shapes in seashells, leaves, flowers and seed pods. This connection is also reflected in the surface pattern, which mirrors the pattern formed organically by glaze or smoke. The nostalgic quality of manufactured patterns such as the piercing in the peppered globes and the impressed pattern of the platters revisits stylised botanical patterns of traditional textiles and wall coverings. Her recent work introduces the use of lyrics and poetry, to link the pieces with memories of time and place.

Sarah's work is exhibited nationally and internationally.
