Frances Lambe Mircocosmos opens in Portadown

Millennium Court Arts Centre presents stunning new work by Dundalk based ceramist Frances Lambe. Microcosmos, co-commissioned by MCAC and the Basement Gallery in Dundalk, opens Wednesday 5 August & runs from 6 August – 26 September 2009 with an Artist’s Talk on Thursday 3 September 6:00 – 7:00pm.Lambe presents a dichotomy of approaches with visual inquiry into opposite concepts, describing her own process as, ‘turning mud into stone’.As a result the intensively beautiful pieces that are created by Lambe have an organic quality – seeming to have evolved in a geological process rather than have been made

Most of the art and craftwork on show is available for sale direct from the artists.

A wide range of practical classes is available each day, with adults and children catered for separately. Classes are designed to encourage the novice and each participant learns how to make a finished piece of art or craft for taking home.

The event is renowned among visitors and artists alike not only for the breadth and quality of the art on show, but also for its wonderful organisation, relaxed family atmosphere and beautiful setting around Townley Hall.
